Quick answer: a GA4 measurement ID starts with G-. Find it in Google Analytics → Admin → Data streams → Web → your stream (first row). Paste it in HookPage → Settings → Advanced tracking → Google → Google Analytics 4 measurement IDs (Pro).
What is a GA4 measurement ID?
In Google Analytics 4, each website you track is a web data stream. The measurement ID is the stream’s unique ID. It starts with G- followed by letters and numbers, for example G-PSW1MY7HB4. It makes sure your website data reaches the right place in Google Analytics.
Why it matters
- See not just visits, but leads, contacts and sales in Google Analytics.
- Compare which traffic sources bring buyers, not just clicks.
- Mark events like
generate_leadandpurchaseas key events and use them in funnels and Google Ads.
What HookPage does with it (Pro)
HookPage loads the Google tag for each ID. Then every conversion event from your buttons, forms and timers is also sent to GA4 under Google’s recommended event name:
| HookPage event | GA4 event |
|---|---|
| Lead | generate_lead |
| Contact | contact |
| InitiateCheckout | begin_checkout |
| AddToCart | add_to_cart |
| CompleteRegistration | sign_up |
| Schedule | schedule |
| ViewContent | view_item |
| SubmitApplication | submit_application |
| Purchase | purchase |
- Events include the value and currency when you set them, and purchases include a transaction ID.
- After a form is sent, HookPage passes the visitor’s email, phone and name to the Google tag as user data, which Google can use for enhanced conversions.
- The currency comes from Settings → Advanced tracking → Currency for event values.
Where to find your measurement ID
- Go to Google Analytics and open Admin.
- Under Data collection and modification, click Data streams.
- Select the Web tab and click your web data stream.
- The measurement ID is in the first row of the stream details.
Add it to HookPage
- Go to HookPage → Settings → Advanced tracking.
- Under Google, paste the ID in Google Analytics 4 measurement IDs and save.
- Several IDs? Separate them with commas. Up to 10.
SCREENSHOT TO ADD: HookPage → Settings → Advanced tracking → Google → “Google Analytics 4 measurement IDs”
- Each ID must start with G-. Anything else is dropped when you save, without a message.
- Already put your G- ID in All pages tracking → Google tag ID? HookPage uses that ID for GA4 when this field is empty.
- One page can use other IDs: open it in the editor → HookPage: tracking panel.
Check that it works
Open your page, send a test form, then look at Reports → Realtime in Google Analytics. You should see your page view and a generate_lead event.
