Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This Privacy Policy explains how Techgic (“we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses and protects your information when you visit techgic.com (the “Site”). It also explains how affiliate links work on this Site. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

Who we are

Techgic (techgic.com) publishes software reviews, comparisons and tutorials for solo entrepreneurs, marketers and store owners. Techgic also makes HookPage, a landing page plugin for WordPress.

Techgic is a brand operated by Ky Duyen, an individual based in Saudi Arabia. In this policy, “Techgic”, “we” and “us” mean Ky Duyen. For data protection laws such as the GDPR, Duyen is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

Questions about this policy: contact@techgic.com

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you contact us, leave a comment or subscribe to our newsletter, we collect the details you choose to share, such as your name, email address and message.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

  • Your IP address (which may be shortened or anonymized), browser type, device type and operating system
  • The pages you visit, how long you stay, the links you click and the website that referred you
  • Approximate location (country or city level) based on your IP address
  • Information stored in cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies and tracking below)

We do not knowingly collect sensitive information, such as health, financial or government ID details.

How we use your information

  • To run, maintain and improve the Site and our content
  • To understand which articles are useful, using anonymous or aggregated analytics
  • To reply to your messages and comments
  • To send you our newsletter, if you subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email)
  • To track affiliate referrals so we can earn commissions (see Affiliate disclaimer below)
  • To protect the Site against spam, fraud and security threats
  • To comply with legal obligations

Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use the following types:

  • Essential cookies that make the Site work, such as remembering your comment details or cookie choices.
  • Analytics cookies from Google Analytics 4, managed through Google Tag Manager, which help us understand how visitors use the Site. This data is aggregated and helps us improve our content.
  • Affiliate cookies set by our partners or affiliate networks when you click an affiliate link. They record that you came from Techgic so the partner can credit us if you make a purchase.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Where required by law (for example, for visitors in the UK and European Economic Area), we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies, and you can change your choice at any time.

Affiliate disclaimer

Techgic contains affiliate links. These are links to tools and services that we use ourselves or that we have researched and recommend to our readers.

If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase or sign up, we may earn a commission from the company. This comes at no extra cost to you. In some cases, our links even give you access to a discount or a longer free trial.

These commissions help us keep the Site running and our content free to read. They never decide what we recommend:

  • We only recommend tools we believe are genuinely useful.
  • We include tools that don’t pay us when they’re the best option for you.
  • We share the downsides as well as the strengths.
  • Companies cannot pay us for a positive review or a higher ranking.
  • Any sponsored content will be clearly labeled as “Sponsored”.

Affiliate links may appear in reviews, comparisons, “best of” lists, tutorials, buttons, tables and images across the Site. We also mark posts that contain affiliate links with a short notice at the top of the article.

Third-party services and links

We rely on trusted third parties to run the Site, including our web host, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, email newsletter providers, spam protection services and affiliate networks. These providers process data on our behalf or under their own privacy policies.

Articles may include embedded content (such as videos) and links to other websites. Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other website directly, and those websites may collect data about you. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites, so please review their policies.

If you leave a comment, an anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it and to show your profile picture.

  • Freemius sells HookPage Pro licences on our behalf as reseller and merchant of record. Freemius handles checkout, payments, invoices, sales tax and licence keys. Freemius privacy policy: https://freemius.com/privacy/
  • Google, when a HookPage customer chooses “Connect with Google” to send data to Google Sheets (see Google user data below).
  • WordPress.org hosts the free HookPage plugin and its support forum, under its own privacy policy: https://wordpress.org/about/privacy/

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We only share information:

  • With service providers who help us run the Site, under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection terms
  • With affiliate partners, limited to the referral data needed to credit a purchase (we do not share your name or email with them)
  • When required by law, or to protect our rights, our users or the public
  • As part of a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of the Site, in which case this policy will continue to apply

When you buy HookPage Pro, your order is processed by Freemius, which shares with us the details we need to provide your licence and support: your name, email address, the plan you bought and the sites where your licence is active.

How long we keep your data

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. Comments are kept until they are deleted. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages sent to us are usually deleted within 24 months. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and then deleted automatically.

  • HookPage purchase and licence records: for as long as your licence is active, and then as long as needed for accounting and tax rules (usually up to 7 years).
  • HookPage support emails: usually up to 24 months.
  • Template library requests: we do not keep a record of which sites download templates, other than normal server logs kept by our host for security.
  • “Connect with Google” relay: a Google refresh token is kept for no more than 10 minutes (see Google user data below); a counter of requests per IP address is kept for 1 hour to stop abuse.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Ask us to delete your information
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (for example, the ICO in the UK)

UK and EEA visitors: We process personal data based on your consent (for non-essential cookies and newsletters), our legitimate interests (running, securing and improving the Site) and legal obligations.

US visitors: Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information, and we do not knowingly share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

To make a request, email us at contact@techgic.com. We may need to verify your identity before we respond, and we aim to reply within 30 days.

Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including secure (HTTPS) connections and keeping our software up to date. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International data transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your information.

General disclaimer

All content on Techgic is for general information and education only. It is not legal, financial, tax or other professional advice. We do our best to keep information accurate and up to date, but software features, prices and offers change often, so please confirm details on the provider’s website before you buy.

We are not responsible for any loss or damage resulting from your use of the Site or of third-party products and services mentioned on it. Product names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Mentioning them does not mean those companies endorse Techgic.

HookPage plugin and Techgic online services

HookPage is a WordPress plugin. The free version is available on WordPress.org; HookPage Pro is sold on techgic.com.

What stays on your own website

HookPage runs on your WordPress site. Your landing pages, settings, form entries (leads) and orders are stored in your own WordPress database. We do not receive, see or store your visitors, leads or orders.

Tracking and integrations you set up

If you add tracking IDs (Meta Pixel and Conversions API, Google tag, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager, TikTok Pixel) or connect webhooks or Google Sheets, the data is sent directly from your site or your visitors’ browsers to the services you chose. It does not pass through Techgic. For your own visitors’ data, you are the data controller: you are responsible for your site’s privacy policy and for asking for cookie and tracking consent where required.

What reaches Techgic

  • Template library: when you open HookPage → Add New, your site asks techgic.com for the list of templates and downloads a template when you choose it. No personal data is sent; like any web request, your server’s IP address and your site address reach our server.
  • Purchases and licences: handled by Freemius (see Third-party services and links and How we share information above). When you activate or check a licence, Freemius receives your licence key, your site address, your email and technical details such as your WordPress and PHP versions.
  • Support: if you email us, we use your name, email and message to help you.
  • Google Sheets connection: see Google user data below.

Legal basis: we use this data to provide the plugin and the services you asked for (contract) and to keep our services secure and working (legitimate interests).

Google user data (HookPage “Connect with Google”)

HookPage Pro can send new leads and orders from your website to a Google Sheet. To do this, you sign in with Google and allow HookPage to:

  • create and edit only the spreadsheets that HookPage creates for you (Google Drive “drive.file” permission). HookPage cannot see your other Google Drive files;
  • see your Google account email address, so you can see which account is connected.

How it works

After you sign in, Google sends a refresh token to our relay on techgic.com. The relay keeps it for no more than 10 minutes, until your website collects it once, and then deletes it. The token and your Google email address are then stored on your own website, not by Techgic. When your website needs a new access token, it sends the refresh token to our relay, which asks Google for a new access token and returns it to your site; the relay does not store either token. The content of your sheets (leads and orders) goes directly from your website to Google and never passes through techgic.com.

You can disconnect at any time in HookPage → Settings → Integrations, and remove access in your Google Account at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Techgic’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add new tools or when the law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
