Meta test event code: check your Conversions API setup

Last updated:

Quick answer: in Meta Events Manager, open your pixel → Test events and copy the code (like TEST12345). Paste it in HookPage → Settings → Conversions API (Meta) → Test event code (optional). Remove it when you’re done testing.

What is a test event code?

Meta’s Test events tool shows events from your website in real time. For server events from the Conversions API, Meta needs a code to know which events to show you there. That code is the test event code.

Why use it

  • See it work right away, instead of waiting for normal reports.
  • Check that each event arrives with the right name, value and customer details.
  • Find problems before you spend money on ads.

What HookPage does with it (Pro)

While the field is filled, HookPage adds the code to every Conversions API request, for all pixels on all pages. It only affects server events.

Where to find your test event code

  1. Open Meta Events Manager and go to Data sources.
  2. Select your pixel and open the Test events tab.
  3. Copy the test event code shown there.

Test your setup

  1. Go to HookPage → Settings → Conversions API (Meta).
  2. Paste the code in Test event code (optional), below the pixel table, and save.

SCREENSHOT TO ADD: HookPage → Settings → Conversions API (Meta) → “Test event code (optional)”

  1. Open your landing page and do what a customer would: click a button, send a form or place a test order.
  2. Back in Test events, your server events should appear within moments.
  3. When everything looks right, empty the field and save.

Remove the code before running ads. Meta says events sent with a test code are not dropped: they still flow into Events Manager and are used for targeting and measurement. Testing with the code on during live ads mixes test and real data.

HookPage keeps only letters, numbers, _ and -. If nothing is left, the code isn’t saved and you’ll see an error.
